Kung Fu Panda - Movie Review

Movie Review

Cast: Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Ian McShane, Seth Rogen, David Cross

I simply adore animations... so it goes without saying that I watched this movie and not just once but twice within a day!!! This movie is really great. I'm a fan of Jack Black who is the voice of Po (panda) so I could actually see the similarities in the expressions and the mannerisms... I couldn't help but laugh throughout the movie... It was that entertaining.

I have no doubt that kids of all ages will love the movie. It is a reverting, exhilarating, entertaining journey . You'll be glued to the screen and even when the movie ends you'll crave for more... Great way to unwind.

Caution: Don't read further if you Want to wait and watch the movie - Full of Spoilers!!!

The story is about a Panda who works in a Noodle Shop. In his dreams he is a great Kung Fu Master who is a hero and has friends like the Furious Five. In reality he works in his Dad's Noodle Shop and is big and clumsy and apart from knowing all the Kung Fu moves, the history and all about the Masters he has no practical knowledge of Kung Fu.

By a twist of Fate or call it simply Destiny he is named Dragon Warrior.
Master Shifu (the greatest Kung Fu teacher predicts that he won't last the night) and the Furious Five are furious that Dragon Warrior is someone who doesn't even know Kung Fu.

Po comes as a eager "big" guy who wants to be a Master and he doesn't quit coz "Warriors do not quit". After having a really gruelling day where he fights/trains with the Furious Five (Masters: Tigress, Monkey, Crane, Mantis and Viper) he ends the day being beaten by Master Shifu.

On the other side the villain Tai Lung who has been in prison for 20 years escapes from a prison guarded by 1000 Black Rhinos. He was a protege of Master Shifu and after being denied of the Dragon Scroll turned evil.

Master Shifu finds that Po is actually quite agile when it comes to food and he then decides that he has to use food to train Po. I really enjoyed this training episode.

Master Shifu hands over the Dragon Scroll to Po (Dragon Warrior) with the hope that after reading the scroll he will become powerful enough to defeat Tai Lung.

However the scroll is blank and Master Shifu orders them to evacuate the village.

Po fights Tai Lung- impressive fighting!!! and needless to say Po kills Tao Lung :)

At the end of the movie he is still the lovable Po and doesn't become all macho macho... He gains respect of the Furious Five, Master Shifu and the Villagers. And his dream becomes a reality!!!

Note:
If you are a Jack Black fan then you might want to watch:
  • Nacho Libre
  • School of Rock
He has acted in alot of movies but the above two are my favourites...
