Camera - Update

Finally I'm getting the camera. I know I know that in my previous posts I had said otherwise but I opted for another supplier. I didn't like the idea of sending all details of my credit card via email to anyone!!! Hence the cancellation.

So I went to another vendor and bought all the necessary stuff. My Rebel XTi, lenses, filters, batteries, memory cards, bag etc etc. I didn't buy the most expensive lense coz... well it was expensive!!! I'm just a beginner so I'm starting at that level... Maybe later on I'll get something else if the ones I ordered doesn't work out!!!

I've been checking out alot of sites which gives tips on using these cameras... (in between my workloads that is...) and really I just can't wait to get my hands on it!!!

Friendship???

Topic of Discussion for Today:

Can males and females be just platonic friends? And can they introduce them to their partners before marriage and after marriage without fear of any fights etc etc...?

I don't like the world platonic but friendship is very sacred for me. I despise people who are really not mature enough to understand the meaning of friendship. Infact one of my friends who I count amongst my very good friends, P, is still in touch with me and he has introduced his wife to me as well. I don't know if there have been any fights or not but I very much believe that my friendship didn't cause any problems... Right P??? :)

On the otherhand I had a few friends who once married didn't stay in touch... Can't really figure this one out...

For guys - Why is it so easy to introduce your male friends to your intended then your "girl" friends?

For girls - Why is it a problem if your partner has a female friend?

During lunch today I did pose this question to my colleagues. All of them are married so I got some good response.

One of the gents said that he had told his wife about his friends and girl friends and also introduced them but right now he is regretting doing this. And they have been married with two kids - approx. 10 years now. Reason for his regret: Every time they have a fight a list of things comes out and etc etc... :)

The ladies said that they make a list when their spouses/partners say anything good regarding the opposite sex. This mental list lies in hibernation until such time that it needs to be waved in the air during a heated argument!!!

I am not married but I find all this childish. Where is the trust which forms the basis of any relationship? Where is the maturity and understanding?

In todays world we spend most of our time at work where the workforce is made up of both gents and ladies. As a engineer I work in a male dominated industry so I have to tread very carefully at times. I make a point of meeting my colleagues spouses so they can place a face with the name... But still it sounds ridiculous...

The character of a person is truly revealed during such incidents.

I'll write more on this later!!!

Note to Myself

A sharp tongue can cut my own throat.

If I want my dreams to come true, I mustn't oversleep.

Of all the things I wear, my expression is the most important.

The best vitamin for making friends..... B1.

The happiness of my life depends on the quality of my thoughts.

The heaviest thing I can carry is a grudge.

One thing I can give and still keep...is my word.

I lie the loudest when I lie to myself.
If I lack the courage to start, I have already finished.
One thing I can't recycle is wasted time.

Ideas won't work unless ' I ' do.

My mind is like a parachute…it functions only when open.

The 10 commandments are not a multiple choice.

The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime!
It is never too late to become what I might have been.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right... Forget about the one's who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Good Advice - Part 2

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION:
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Great Advice!!!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride!!!"

Being Sick!!!

When someone at home is sick your entire lifestyle becomes chaotic. Worry is the paramount state of mind and nothing else matters...

This year so far has been one ordeal after another.

First was Mom and after she got better Dad's health sank. We've spent the last 4 weeks getting him on his feet. During Mom's convalesce we sort of neglected Dads health. And he is not too good at the best of times. Anyways when Dad got sick (he was home for 2 weeks!!!) I told both of them that the next one to get sick is me. I want some undivided attention too you know!!! I know that I'm sounding like a spoilt brat but no thats really not the case... Obviously it was said in jest.

Even a cough or sneeze from either of them sends me into a hyper frenzy mode. Is this how it gets when one becomes a parent?

My answer to many things or illnesses is that to get better look after your liver!!! I had done a lot of research and from all the different readings I can say that it does make sense. So right now Dad has been asked to drink fresh fruit / vegetable juices. Maybe "Ask" is a wrong word to use - forcefully, emotionally, blackmailed into persuasion is more of a correct term!!! :)

Anyways this is how we are currently looking after my Dad's health at home!!!
  • He is drinking fresh juice extracted from Bitter Gourd (Karela) - one glass 2 - 3 times a day
  • He is having a mixture of honey, milk, almonds, eggs - twice a day
  • He is eating a lot of fresh organic vegetables, root crops etc etc
The aim here is to make him well and to fatten him up as well!!!

And after one month the changes are amazing (touchwood). I am getting a camera soon and visual comparison is much better than putting it in words. :)

Money!!!

Money- Thats what everyone is thinking most of the time... Especially more so recently :) Cost of living has soared like anything. Fuel, food and home prices are hiking at an amazing rate and I know for a fact that everyone is in some context thinking about how to make more money.

The main point here is not to think of how to make more money but really its all about how to save more without starving to death and without compromising the actual necessary quality of life.

I'm a avid reader of the Financial Sections. And every time I find any interesting article it acts like a wake up call for me. By interesting I mean articles on budgeting, savings, retirement plans etc etc. Budgeting and savings is not too much of an issue coz I have a Personal Reminder who does all the necessary reminding... I love to call her Mom :). She is really good with numbers and I personally think that she's gifted. I cannot stretch a dollar to buy things and save some of it. But she can. I have always aspired to be like her but I don't think I've succeeded much.

Anyways what I want to highlight here is - Retirement!!! When I first read about this my first thought was that I'm still very young to be seriously thinking about it. But then I really started re-visiting the thoughts and started reading more and more. For someone who is like me - who does not believe in any large inheritances (no rich benefactor waiting in the wings) and knows the chances of winning any lottery (near to zero) it is like a jolt out of the blue. Really it is worthwhile to at least think about it. I've summarized the gist of it... To me it makes sense.

20 to 29
You're young; you're starting your career; you're broke.
  1. Start your super at work. In Fiji, it’s a legal requirement to have SUPER.
  2. You can tap your Super for a first-time home purchase, for small loans and for education
  3. Start an emergency fund. If you don't have a bit saved for a rainy day, you'll have to go into debt for emergencies — or tap your retirement fund.
  4. Emergency Fund should equal 3 to 4 months of expenses.
  5. Make a living will, so your family will know your wishes in case of a health emergency. You'll need one when you retire, but you never know what will happen in the meantime.
30 to 39
You're still young; you're starting a family; you're in debt up to your eyeballs.
  1. Don't reduce your retirement savings for college savings. You can finance college; you can't finance retirement.
  2. Use your SUPER to help you save.
  3. Write your will. You never know.
40 to 49
You're middle-aged; you're doing OK; you're starting to get worried.
  1. If you plan to remain in your home, refinance to make sure your mortgage will end when you stop working.
  2. Update your living will and make sure someone has power of attorney. You never know.
50 to 59
You're nearing retirement; you're at the peak of your career; you're terrified.
  1. If the kids are out of college, consider reducing your life insurance and increasing your savings.
  2. At 55, start reviewing your Pension Scheme you might receive. See how much your savings will have to be tapped to meet your expenses.
  3. Update your will. You never know.

I'll be writing more on this and will link it to this post. At this level I think finances should be an important aspect in our thinking process. In mine at least!!!

Cartoons

When I was small I used to love watching cartoons... Hell - I still love cartoons. I guess with the years my passion for cartoons has increased. Road runner and the Wile E. Coyote being amongst my favorites. I may have out grown Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse but not Road Runner. . . And I still feel for the Coyote despite him being a baddie.

He must surely being one of the brainiest bad guys around. He uses logic and of course science in his attempts to catch the Road Runner but as usual good overcomes bad!!! And he fails... Fails but not defeated coz he then comes up with the next big idea : )

I believe that this was my first real entry into the world of science :) Just look at the expression on his face... Isn't it adorable :)

Sick...

Weekend wasn't much of anything... I think I'm coming down with something coz I really had to spend alot of time trying to get better!!! Dad was really sick a few weeks ago and I think I'm getting whatever he had at the time... :(

So yeah... not a good weekend.

I hate being sick. I cannot recall the last time that I was really sick. So this forced bed rest was not my idea of fun :( And I really wasn't in any mood to argue with my parents. They never give me instructions or "orders" but when they do... I simply cannot refuse. So when I was ordered to bed rest I just had to obey. Though to be truthful I wasn't in any shape to resist. And even today I feel down.

Good One :)

For several years, a man was having an affair with an Italian woman.

One night, she confided in him that she was pregnant.

Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money if she would go to Italy to secretly have the child.

If she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would also provide child support until the child turned 18.

She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born. To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card, and write "Spaghetti" on the back.

He would then arrange for the child support payments to begin.

One day, about 9 months later, he came home to his confused wife. "Honey," She said, "you received a very strange post card today."

"Oh, just give it to me and I'll explain it later," he said.

The wife obeyed and watched as her husband read the card, turned white, and fainted.

On the card was written:

"Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti. Three with meatballs, two without. Send extra sauce."

A Very Interesting Article.

The Incredible Brain (Daniel Tammet)

Daniel Paul Tammet is a British high-functioning autistic savant gifted with a facility for mathematical calculations, sequence memory, and natural language learning. He was born with congenital childhood epilepsy. Experiencing numbers as colors or sensations is a well-documented form of synesthesia, but the detail and specificity of Tammet's mental imagery of numbers is unique. In his mind, he says, each number up to 10,000 has its own unique shape and feel, that he can "see" results of calculations as landscapes, and that he can "sense" whether a number is prime or composite.. He has described his visual image of 289 as particularly ugly, 333 as particularly attractive, and pi as beautiful. Tammet not only verbally describes these visions, but also creates artwork, particularly watercolor paintings, such as his painting of Pi.

Tammet holds the European record for memorising and recounting pi to 22,514 digits in just over five hours. He also speaks a variety of languages including English, French, Finnish, German, Spanish, Lithuanian, Romanian, Estonian, Icelandic, Welsh and Esperanto.Tammet is creating a new language called Mänti. Tammet is capable of learning new languages very quickly.

Update - Mom

This week marks the 3 month anniversary of the biggest scare of my life - the thought of losing my Mom. She nearly died in Feb due to a something called Angiodema (swelling of face, throat, tongue).

Since then she has been on a very special diet. and I'm very very happy to report that till date (that is within these 3 months) she hasn't had any relapse. There have been no other facial swelling and this indeed is a big big improvement.

She is allergic to aspirin and penicillin so her special diet is mainly to avoid foods and products which may contain salicylates. When I did a research on this (thank God for Google!!!) I found that there are lots and lots of things to AVOID which we were not aware of. I guess this goes to show that we do need a food nutritionist in the hospitals in Fiji.

Below is just a sample of things to avoid.

Its an extract from a food allergy related site:
Foods that contain salicylates:
  • Fruits such as apples, avocados, blueberries, dates, kiwi fruit, peaches, raspberries, figs, grapes, plums, strawberries, cherries, grapefruit and prunes
  • Vegetables such as alfalfa, cauliflower, mushrooms, radishes, broad beans, eggplant, spinach, zucchini, broccoli and peppers
  • Herbs, spices and condiments such as dry spices and powders, tomato pastes and sauces, vinegar and soy sauce
  • Beverages such as instant coffee, wine, orange juice, apple cider, regular and herbal tea, beer, rum and sherry
  • Nuts such as pine nuts, peanuts, pistachios and almonds
  • Some candies, such as peppermints, licorice and mint-flavored gum and breath mints
Products that may contain aspirin or a salicylate compound:
  • Fragrances and perfumes
  • Shampoos and conditioners
  • Herbal remedies
  • Cosmetics such as lipsticks. Lotions and skin cleansers
  • Mouthwash and mint-flavored toothpaste
  • Shaving cream
  • Sunscreens or tanning lotions
  • Muscle pain creams
  • Sodium bicarbonate with aspirin (Alka Seltzer)
Ingredients to look for:
  • Aspirin
  • Acetylsalicylic acid
  • Artificial food coloring and flavoring
  • Benzoates
  • Beta-hydroxy acid
  • Magnesium salicylate
  • Menthol
  • Mint
  • Salicylate
  • Salicylic acid
  • Peppermint
  • Phenylethyl salicylate
  • Sodium salicylate
  • Spearmint
So you can see that there is quite a lot of things to avoid.... and how hard it can be for someone who suffers for Arthritis and Rheumatism. A lot of the pain killers and creams contain these ingredients.

But all these precautionary measures have paid off (touch wood) coz Mom is feeling 100% better now and we have all learnt to live without products which contain Salicylate related ingredients!!!

General Frustration!!!

How difficult can it be for someone to remember their Mother?
I guess I’m asking the wrong question here… How can anyone forget their Mom at any given time?
So really unless one are in the middle of antarctic and really cannot contact there Mom, there should not be any excuse for not even wishing her on
  1. Birthday
  2. Mothers Day
These days come around just ONCE every year. I mean if a country has a great looking pub it will surely have phones and maybe even internet!!! And if there is a will then there is a way - right!!!

And if one is going somewhere and will be out of communication zone the least one can do is leave an advance greeting!!!

Come-on how hard can that be???

I guess that shows what one thinks of the woman who devoted her entire life looking after that person...

I'm just frustrated by these things...

My thoughts are my own and this is not aimed or directed at anyone!!!

Dad and Cooking

Cont’d from yesterday
Dad has got into the mood now to do something special for Mothers Day. We are having our Father – Daughter meeting tonight to decide what exactly we’ll be doing. Though I have a fair idea that it’ll involve cooking!!! (I’ll come back to this later). My suggestion for Dad was to take Mom for a very long drive… you know the usual … take in a few sights, check out a few houses (designs that is) etc etc. His response on this was that Mom’s my Mom so I should do this while he’ll prepare food. Imagine this!!! Now if this is the case then I don’t know why they still insist on calling each other Mom and Dad. : )
I really do not want my Dad to cook.
One reason – he is too meticulous. If he is cutting carrots then all the carrots have to be of one size, onions have to be sliced to an exact thinness, the meat has to be lean meat and the list continues. This is only regarding the food not to mention that all the dishes that are available just have to be used. It’s like a cyclone has just passed though the kitchen!!! I don’t know if this is the case in any other household but it is true for my family… Now I wouldn’t mind any of this… I don’t mind the 3 hour preparation time for food that will be consumed in half an hour nor do I mind spending one hour washing dishes and cleaning up. Coz for some reason he absolutely hates cleaning up!!! What I do mind is that after all this activity he gets too tired and is so “full” that he doesn’t eat anything!!! And we are too guilty to eat anything!!! It’s like destroying an artist’s masterpiece.
Second reason – he is just recovering from a bad bout of influenza. He has been very sick of late and I would not want him to exert himself too much.
Big Reason – it’s not just Mothers Day. It’s their day so I would like to do the cooking without supervision!!!
So I guess the decision is very much made on who’ll be doing the cooking. :)

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is on Sunday 11th May 2008. Just a mere four days away. I almost wish that it was further down in the year... I guess I'm just worried about how the day will turn out. Funny enough I'm not this wary about any other day (that is apart from Birthdays) so I have no idea why I'm having this swamp of butterflies in my stomach. Is it that I am not sure of how exactly the day will turn out to be... maybe!!

I aired my views on the commercial aspects of this day a few days ago. I still feel the same. And every time I hear a jingle or see some ads on TV I tend to complain out loud. Just the other day I realized.. (it was quite dramatic actually) that my Mum might not share my views. This happened right in the middle of one of my tirades and I did stop half way and gazed at Mum. Thats when I asked her if she wanted anything special for Mothers Day.

I know I know that gifts should be given and not prompted for. Otherwise what's the value of the gift right... But we also have a sort of a rule at home - Don't buy anything without getting some sort of consent. Ever since I moved back home we have got too much stuff. Two of everything and literally we are running out of space - bursting at the seams so to speak. At the time we decided as a family not to purchase anything without discussing it first. And believe me you won't want to break that rule especially since my Mum was the one who made it. She is not called "Mother General" for nothing.

So I asked if there was something that she wanted or needed... But it was in a very discreet manner. Also I pointed out that if the day comes and she starts pouting then I will feel really bad... Tried using psychology on her. Turned out she didn't fall for it. She really doesn't "want" anything. So now I'm free to buy her whatever I want...

Some of the options that I have are:
  • Go for lunch or dinner : This is not possible since she is on a special diet right now (Allergy Reaction to certain foods and spices)
  • Pamper her: I'll try my level best but she really doesn't sit still for a minute. I get exhausted just watching her. I cannot even cook without being supervised and I have lived on my own for sooo long.
  • Take her for a long drive: I'm trying to get my Dad to do this every weekend. Sort of give them alone time together so will see about this.
  • Buy her something special - this I'll definitely do...
Actually I have already bought her the pressies but will check out the stores again... Maybe I'll find something more.

One of the things that I'm very worried about is her emotional status on this day. I can't stand to see tears in her eyes so I'm really bracing myself.

One of the main causes, I know, would be the absence of my brother. They are close so she will miss him and no matter how "good" a daughter I am I can never fill that void. The other reason would be the absence of my Grandma (Nanna) on this occasion. She passed away in 2002 and we all miss her but again I cannot even imagine the depth of that loss from my mothers point of view.

I sometimes try to imagine life without Mum and Dad in it. It is impossible. If the mere thought is impossible for me then how would those people feel who lost their Mums. It is too deep an emotion cum pain to even fathom.

Finally I'm Getting It

I am buying a camera and hopefully within a month I should have it in my hands… Gosh I’m sooo excited…
Now I know that you might be wondering why one month and why not sooner. Its coz I’m getting it from USA and there are a lot of steps to take in order to get it here. I am forever grateful to Lisa, our family friend, who’ll be shipping it to me. Lisa you are the greatest!!! I’m forever in your debt. : )
It was Lisa herself who sort of inspired me to get into photography. She is a very keen and professional photographer. Link to her site: Lisa's Work. And she is the one who is currently guiding me as to what to buy.
I have waited a very long time to buy a good camera and really - I mean a long time.
Here is a photo of the camera that I’m buying.

During my research I found that this is good for beginners and enthusiasts. Lets see how it goes.

One for the Women

Too good to ignore :)
WOMAN'S PERFECT BREAKFAST
She's sitting at the table with her gourmet coffee.
Her son is on the cover of the Wheaties box.
Her daughter is on the cover of Business Week.
Her boyfriend is on the cover of Playgirl.
And her husband is on the back of the milk carton.
Keep reading-they get better!!!

WOMEN'S REVENGE
'Cash, check or charge?' I asked, after folding items the woman Wished to purchase. As she fumbled for her wallet , I noticed a remote Control for a television set in her purse.
'So, do you always carry your TV remote?' I asked.
'No,' she replied, 'but my husband refused to come shopping With me, And I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally.'

UNDERSTANDING WOMEN
(A MAN'S PERSPECTIVE)
I know I'm not going to understand women.
I'll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax,

Pour it onto your upper thigh, rip the hair out by the root,

And still be afraid of a spider
.

CIGARETTES AND TAMPONS
A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders Up & down the aisles. The sales girl notices him and asks him If she can help him. He answers that he is looking for A box of tampons For his wife.
She directs him down the correct Aisle.

A few minutes later, He deposits A huge bag of cotton Balls and A ball of string on the counter.

She says, confused, ' Sir, I thought you were looking for some tampons for your wife?

He answers, ' You See, it's Like this, yesterday I asked my wife to pick me up a carton of cigarettes and she came back with a tin of tobacco and some rolling papers; cause it's sooo-ooo--oo-ooo Much cheaper. So, I figure If I have To roll my own .......... So does she.

(I figure this guy is the One on the Milk carton!)

WIFE VS. HUSBAND
A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, 'Relatives of yours?'
'Yep,' the wife replied, 'in-laws.'

WORDS
A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day... 30,000 to a man's 15,000.
The wife replied, 'The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men...

The husband then turned to his wife, with an innocent face and asked, 'What'?

CREATION
A man said to his wife one day, 'I don't know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time'.
The wife responded, 'Allow me to explain. God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me; God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you'

WHO DOES WHAT
A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning.

The wife said, 'You should do it because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee.

The husband said, 'You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee.'

Wife replies, 'No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee.'

Husband replies, 'I can't believe that, show me.'

So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says.
'HEBREWS'

The Silent Treatment
A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment.
Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5:0 0 AM for an early morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, 'Please wake me at 5:00 AM.' He left it where he knew she would find it. The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed.

The paper said, 'It is 5:00 AM. Wake up.'

Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.

God may have created man before woman, but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece

Insensitive Commercialization

Mothers Day – May 11, 2008
Mothers Day is being advertised EVERYWHERE. I turn on the radio and all varieties of jingles blast out promoting Mothers Day Sale. I went to town and all shops had Mothers Day Sale… In fact everywhere I turn I find some sort of advertisement for Mothers Day. And all this commercialization is driving me crazy…
I don’t have anything against Mothers Day. But do we need a day to shower our love on our mothers? Why can’t we do it all the time?
Do we need a reminder like Mothers Day to highlight just how important and precious our mother is? Why can’t it be there in our heads all the time?
Do we just do our “DUTY” on that one day of the year by gifting and showering our love and forget about it for the remaining 364 days?
Do we need to buy a gift for that particular event when it’s not really possible (in monetary terms)? And if we don’t buy a gift then does it mean that we don’t love our Mums?
I know that buying gifts are not necessary and we can just make her day beautiful. For example – give her breakfast in bed, do all the cooking and cleaning for the day or take her out for a special lunch or dinner and the list can continue….My point here is: Why just do it for one day? Why not for the rest of the year?
I sometimes wonder how those feel who have lost their mothers. I lost my Nanna around 5 years ago and I miss her alot but it fails in comparison to what my Mum feels and especially around this time of the year.

Don’t mistake my words here. I love Mothers Day but I try to celebrate Mothers Day every day. I don’t know if I succeed or not. Guess you’ll have to ask my Mum. But at least I try to give it my 100%. But I really hate all the commercialization that is currently present. Same goes for Father's Day as well. I think that some have forgotten how this Day had originally come about.
If you are interested here is the History behind Mothers Day.

Treat others like you expect to be treated. Well ... Remembered for a Day or all the time?

What's Love?

From the mouth of babes!!

Little kids can be so insightful when it comes to defining things. Here's a look of what they think Love is...

  • Love is that first feeling you feel before all the bad stuff gets in the way
  • Love is when someone hurts you.. And you get so mad but you don't yell at him because you know it would hurt his feelings
  • When you tell someone something bad about yourself and you're scared she won't love you anymore. But then you get surprised because not only does she still love you, she loves you even more
  • Love is-if you hold hands and sit beside each other in the cafeteria. That means you're in love. Otherwise, you can sit across from each other and be okay
  • Love is when mommy gives daddy the best piece of chicken
  • Love is when mommy sees daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford
  • Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day
  • When you're born and see your mommy for the first time
  • Love is what makes people hide in the dark corners of movie theaters.
  • Love goes on even when you stop breathing and you pick up where you left off when you reach heaven
  • You have to fall in love before you get married. Then when you're married, you just sit around and read books together
  • I let my big sister pick on me because my Mom says she only picks on me because she loves me. So I pick on my baby sister because I love her
  • When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you
  • Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My mommy and daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss but they look happy and sometimes they dance in the kitchen while kissing
  • Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.
The rest can be found on this link: Rest.....
The one that really touched me was :

Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday

It reminded me (though I don't need reminding) of a friend who used to do this all the time while in College (Uni.). We are still in touch and are actually planning a reunion for later this year (one of my resolutions).

Too Hot?

I spent yesterday in Lautoka... Not at home but at the Lautoka Office which houses the Finance and Logistics. Not only did I forego the 3 hour drive but I also managed to go home for wee bite to eat.

And truth be told yesterday was maybe one of the hottest days that I have encountered. The last time was the summer in India. It was scorching hot. I was so very tempted to fry an egg on the bonnet. Just as an experiment you see. But then I thought of all the damage that was going to inflict and not to mention the wrath of my dad should he realize what I was contemplating..(forget about even attempting it).. After visualizing these I decided that no experiment is worth it!! Also I didn't have any eggs near by :)

In Yaqara I don't generally feel the heat. Mainly coz that there is a lot of foliage which goes a long way to lower the temperature. So you can imagine my state when within 5 minutes of my leaving home I was dying to crawl back into an air-con office... I had literally wilted!!! And that too in such a short time. Wonder if its coz I'm de-hydrated. Now that would be the laughs - I work in the water industry : ) So this can never be an excuse.

The heat however did not seem to affect anyone else. Everyone was out on the roads waiting to catch a bus or a cab, the town was busy as anything and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Of late, 3 months to be precise, we were plagued by rain. No wonder everyone was cheerful... I on the other hand am longing for cool weather now :( (without the rain)
